Pakistan's Premier Ski Destination
Pakistan's premier ski resort and adventure destination. Features cable cars, zip lines, chairlifts, and skiing slopes. Summer brings hiking and paragliding opportunities.
Malam Jabba's story as a ski resort began in the 1980s when the Austrian government helped Pakistan develop its first ski slopes here. The original resort, operated by PTDC, featured a small hotel, ski lifts, and equipment rental. It quickly became a beloved winter destination for Pakistanis discovering snow sports for the first time.
The resort faced a devastating setback in 2008 when militants destroyed the hotel and infrastructure during their brief occupation of Swat. For several years, the site lay in ruins, a symbol of the conflict that gripped the valley. However, the resilience of Swat's people prevailed.
In 2014, the Samson Group of Companies partnered with the KPK government to rebuild Malam Jabba. The new resort, completed in 2019, is a world-class facility with a modern hotel, cable car system, zip line, chairlift, and improved ski slopes. Today, Malam Jabba welcomes over 500,000 visitors annually and has put Pakistan on the global winter sports map.
From Mingora, head south towards Saidu Sharif, then take the road to Malam Jabba via Islampur. The 40 km drive takes about 1.5 hours. The last 10 km is a winding mountain road. Public transport is available but hiring a car is recommended for convenience.
